Chasing Light, Capturing Life
My love for photography began in high school when I built a pinhole camera out of an oatmeal box and took my first self-portrait. From that moment on, I was hooked. I spent countless hours in the darkroom, developing images by hand—a process I still miss. As photography evolved, so did I. Now, I work primarily with my Canon 5D Mark II and digital tools, but my passion remains the same: capturing authentic, compelling portraits.
While studying at the British Academy of Photography in the UK, I honed my skills in portrait photography, learning how to reveal the inner beauty, personality, and charisma of my clients. I especially love working with couples, children, and teens, creating images that feel both timeless and true to who they are.
Whether in my studio or outdoors, I embrace the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest to create striking, personal portraits. Bring your ideas, or let’s collaborate to craft something extraordinary. I love experimenting with lighting, backdrops, poses, and props to make each session unique. I understand that being in front of the camera can feel intimidating, which is why I take the time to get to know you—ensuring a comfortable, fun experience that truly captures your individuality.
From my studio I can offer a variety of portrait sessions, including professional headshots, high school senior portraits, business branding, product photography, and more. A high-quality headshot is essential for making a great first impression—whether on LinkedIn, social media, or your personal brand. More than just a photograph, a portrait is a lasting moment in time—something to look back on and cherish for years to come.
who am I?
Hi, I’m Sherrie! I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, but I spent the last 15 years living and studying photography in the United Kingdom. Now, I’m back in my home state, living on the Oregon coast—a place I’m completely obsessed with! There’s nothing quite like the ocean breeze, the sound of the waves, and the sense of tranquillity the coast offers.
Photography has been a lifelong passion of mine—I’ve been studying and refining my craft for over 30 years. Creating Saltlight Photography Studio has been a dream come true, and I’m beyond excited to share my work and creativity with you.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me exploring coastal towns and the beautiful outdoors with my husband, our two children, and our dog, Sookie. We love rock hunting, hiking, camping, and simply unwinding on the beach. I also have a deep love for tacos, Gilmore Girls, autumn, mysteries of any kind, ghost stories, and shooting pool with my dad. As one of six siblings, family time is everything to me. My happiest moments are when we’re all together, playing games, laughing, and being as silly as possible—preferably with tacos involved!
